Our journey started with a diversion to Key West as there was weather at Miami. So, our first international stop was the Conch Republic! Missing our scheduled flight to LA we were lucky to catch on with a later flight. Even more luck as we had a three seat row for the two of us. It is a long flight.

We were able to enjoy our one day layover in Los Angeles. We hired a car and toured Beverly Hills. One of the highlights was stopping at the Urth Cafe to see the Gorilla poster with my photo on it. The Owner happened to be in the store and I introduced myself. He is sponsoring coffee farms in Uganda to grow his "Mountain Gorilla" brand of coffee. It clearly is a passion. He told me the first crop sold out so there are several thousand coffee bags with my gorilla photos on the labels.
We got on our Qantas flight uneventfully and reached Sydney 14 hours later at 6:15 am ... the next day! Crossing the international date line is a cool experience.
