Penang is a state that's rich with history. Bearing testimony to that statement are many pre-war buildings that have stood the test of time. Unfortunately, due mainly to monetary issues, most of these buildings cannot be restored to their original condition. As a result some of these monuments are converted into eateries, night clubs and other establishments and they undergo a makeover which more often than not turn out to be eyesores.
