Industrial assignment

During the late 1990's I worked as an industrial photographer for Digital Control, Inc (USA), a small company located
outside of Seattle that produces the most advanced HDD locating and tracking system on the market. The job
arrived completely by chance, when a misdelivered copy of Seattle Magazine with my landscape photo on the back
page landed on the owner's desk. For whatever reason he opened the magazine to the back page first, saw my
photo and immediately had his secretary track me down. At that time I knew nothing about industrial
photography and had no idea that industrial photographer's rates ran between $1200-$1500 per day - I figured
a couple hundred plus expenses would be more than sufficient. So I was very fortunate to have received in advance
the counsel of our family friend Paul Macapia, former curator photographer for the Seattle Art Museum, before presenting
my proposal to DCI, which they accepted without blinking an eye. I'm now finalizing an industrial photography contract
with the French energy company, EDF, and theseold photographs have helped create a decent promotional intro.
