Thailand is a mainly Buddhist country, so Christmas is not celebrated as in the western world, in fact Christmas Day is just another working day here, but that does not stop Thais from putting up trees and lights everywhere ! New Year is the big holiday, so the festive season culminates in "Countdown" at midnight December 31. This year I went to watch the fireworks display on the river near the big 5 star hotels.
