Hi Dave, don't expect too much from a 1/2.3 " sensor. If you would not usually enlarge the photos taken from HS10 to larger than 8R, there is no big deal even you cannot see the wordings on the can.

The sensor size of Canon SX1 IS is also 1/2.3" (CMOS as well!). You may wish to take a look at its ISO200 sample from dpreview.com:
http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/reviewsamples/albums/canon-powershot-sx1-is-review-samples/slideshow
Sample 17 was taken at ISO200. You can download the original full size image for comparsion. Neither can I see the wordings on the bear glass!

For sure is that if HS10 uses the most famous SuperCCD in a larger sensor size, e.g., 1/1.7", all of us would be most welcome.

For your better understanding of the performance of HS10, you may refer to my newly-added resolution tests here:

I am thinking seriously about buying the HS10 but to me all these samples are seriously grainy and far less sharp then I would have expected. To me the writing on the can should be easy to read. It is not.
Thank you for posting these sample photo's. There are very few to be found elsewhere. Please contact me if you would to discuss your opinion. Dave
