My Cousin Irving at the Toronto Zoo.
11-SEP-2006 Michael Weinberg

My Cousin Irving at the Toronto Zoo.

Toronto Zoo, Ontario, Canada

I am not sure what species of ape this is..... I believe it is a Mandrill,
but whatever you call this primate, I can tell you is that he is a ringer
for my cousin Irving and even has the same contemplative facial expression.
Though the photo looks pretty well lighted, truth is that this was taken in a
very dark environment and I did not think I could get a good catch here. To
get an aperture of 4.0 in Shutter priority, I had to turn Iso to 1600 with a
shutter speed of 1/40 sec. Shooting through a smudged glass wall there was no
way I was going to attempt using a flash. To have a reasonably good chance of
getting a quality shot, I rested the camera on a rail and used the self timer.

Good gracious! What a pretty bride we've got here. And what a nice makeup! She must really feel wanted. -
Sorry Michael, I am having just fun. Your shots are excellent - I could learn a lot from you.

Michael, considering incredibly stunning result, I have no questions any further on as to why you set it as profile image for "Au Canada" gallery ! It serves many purposes both literally and figurally... BTW, I am still waiting for lesson on how to make perfectly centered and sized frames, don't forget old and loyal friends ?!

Technically, this is an outstanding shot, Michael. The fine textures of the hair is amazing. Nice bokeh with f4. Beautiful colors and great expression, and I'm sure your cousin Irving would love to have a copy of this image ;o)
