A painter, an enthusiast and breeder of horses, a hunter,
a collector and an advocate of tradition, Maciej Falkiewicz,
born in Lublin, studied in Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts
under the guidance of prof. Micha³ Bylina and prof. Ludwik Maciag
and was awarded a degree in 1974.

In mid-year of 70's Falkiewicz settled in Biala Podlaska,
where in addition to his artistic work, the participation
in numerous plein-air workshops and exhibitions, he engaged
in promoting horse-riding in the local Academy of Psyhical
Education, and in Biala Podlaska's Equitation Club.

The works of Falkiewicz ingrained in the tradition of Polish
landscape painting, combine emotional sensivity of a colourist
with careful observation of nature. Composed of countless
landscapes of the Podlasie region and Kazimierz Dolny, depictions
of spots seen abroad and explored during plain-air workshops,
genre scenes with the subject matter of hunting and horsemanship,
portraits of friends and effigies of animals, they are all a
characteristic and subjective journal of the artist's life.

The works of Falkiewicz are found in many collections in Poland
and elsewhere.
