Greater Poland Trip

In last saturday I had an opportunity to take a short trip to the South of Poznan.

Szreniawa, is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Komorniki, within Poznan County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland. It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-east of Komorniki and 13 km (8 mi) south-west of the regional capital Poznan.

The village has a population of 810. It is the site of an open-air agricultural museum, the National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa, which also administers five branch museums in the Poznan area.

National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa. The National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa (Polish: Muzeum Narodowe Rolnictwa i Przemysłu Rolno-Spożywczego w Szreniawie, full name: National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa) is a museum whose main site is in the village of Szreniawa, south of Poznan in western Poland. It was founded in 1964, and gained the status of National Museum in 1975. It has many open-air exhibits, including examples of agricultural tools and machinery, beehives, and other historical objects.

Apart from its central site at Szreniawa, the museum also incorporates five branches: the Museum of Milling and Water Equipment at Jaracz, the Museum of Natural Environment and Hunting at Uzarzewo, the Museum of Bee-keeping in Swarzędz, the Museum of Basketry and Hop Growing in Nowy Tomyśl, and the Museum of Meat Production in Sielinko.

I remember the first time when I visited Szreniawa, it was in march 2003 in returned way from Berlin together with excursion with the group of workers of Museums of Warsaw.

Bedlewo is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Stęszew, within Poznan County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south of Stęszew and 24 km (15 mi) south-west of the regional capital Poznan.

It is the location of the Mathematical Research and Conference Center of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

In Bedlewo (Poland), is a Palace from 1866, built at the command Of Potocki. Since 1975, owned by the Polish Academy of Sciences, which in the years 1979-1986 overhaul carried out of the building. Currently the Palace serves as a Conference Centre, Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

The Baroque-classical Palace, park and the carriage house from the 18th century. In the Chateau there is a church. St. John the Baptist. Marcelina (formerly the chapel of the counts of Raczynski family). In the basement of the Church is the mausoleum of the Raczynski family, which is responsible, among other things. the body count Edward Bernard Raczynski, who from 1979 to 1986 he was President of the Polish Government in exile. The Palace is a painting Gallery with its collection of works by artists such as Jan Matejko, Jacek Malczewski, Stanislaw Wyspianski, Julian Falat, Olga Boznanska, Leon Wyczólkowski, Aleksander Gierymski, Wlastimil Hofman, Maurice Chabas, Albert Besnard, Paul Delaroche, made available to the public. The Palace is a branch of the National Museum in Poznan.

Kórnik is a town with about 6,800 inhabitants (2006), located in western Poland, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) south-east of the city of Poznan. It is one of the major tourist attractions of the Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) region.

Until 1961 there were two separate towns, Kórnik and Bnin, both founded in the Middle Ages (Bnin gained town rights in 1395, and Kórnik in 1426), situated just 1 kilometre apart. Bnin lost its town rights in 1934, and in 1961 it became part of Kórnik. The enlarged town also includes the former settlement of Prowent, birthplace of Wislawa Szymborska.
