The flight to Singapore was about an hour and a half. We got a chance to stay on the east side of the city as opposed to the west side where tourists would normally stay. It turned out to be a fun place since we got to mingle with the locals. As Lunar New Year is around the corner, Singaporians were preparing for it and the mood was very festive... This law-and-order city/country is truly an utopian society - By law, real-estate property must have a new fresh coat of paint every five years!!! Cars are always clean and shiny because they can cost as much as a house. A Roll Royce Phantom would cost almost one million US dollar ($350,000 in the U.S.)... Eateries are everywhere and food is excellent and more than reasonable. The mile-long Orchard Road is very popular for upscale shopping... The currency is Singaporian Dollar ($1.53SGD per U.S. Dollar).
