We started our first training by hiking one of the Mission Peak (2517' elevation) trails last Sunday. It's a 5.6 mile round-trip gaining some 2000+ feet in elevation. It happened to be a hottest day of July as well. Thanks to the occasional breezes, we did not melt away under the scorching sun walking up and down the bare hills. A few stretches of the trail can be steep. It took us an hour and forty-five minutes to reach the summit (2.8 miles)...
