We attempted to hike the Cathedral Lake trail (7 - 8 miles round trip, 1000'elevation gain) in the Tuolumne Meadows (8000' elevation). This is the first time in years that Tioga Pass was opened by mid-May as a result of warm weather and low snowpack level. We could not finish the trail beyond approximately two miles up. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground and covering the trail path. We plan to try it again in late September.
