From SGP, we flew back to Penang in the morning to catch the noon flight to Kuala Lumpur (KL) and the 4PM flight from KL To Bali, Indonesia. For the Bali trip, we bought a package deal ($530USD for two thru AirAsia.com) consisting of round-trip (KL - Bali) airfares and three-night lodging w/ breakfast. The hotel turned out to be rather new (three-year old) and very nice and away from the tourist center (10-15 minutes ride) where the terrorist bombing took place in 2002 and again in 2005... The highlight of this trip is the one-day sailing trip to the Lembongan island. The waters are crystal clear with 90%-plus visibility. The school of multi colorful fish feeding from your hand is a blast. We also parasailed for the first time. Bali's handicraft industry is extraordinary. Wood-carving is my favorite. The landscape reminds me of Vietnam with the spectacular rice terraces and the abundant tropical fruit (jack fruit, mangustine, cacao, mango, beettle, coconut, etc...). The currency is Rupiah ($9000RP per USD). One can charter a private mini-van for one day to tour the island for $450,000RP (or $50USD)...
