Hi Adrian, I have just joined the team that Adele works in. She may have mentioned that I am looking for a huge favour.
My partner, Terry was diagnosed with bowel cancer 5 years ago. The operation in his bowel was successful however they discovered that it had already spread to his liver. Up until then there was only treatments such as chemotherapy. A Welshman by the name of Merddyn Rees who is a consultant in Basingstoke hospital, against professional opinion pioneered an operation to remove the cancerous areas in the liver. Terry has undergone 4 liver resections performed by Mr Rees and is still living a normal life. We like to visit the Goose and Cuckoo and noticed a paper cutting on the wall reporting that in 1914 a man pushed his wife in a pram from Blaenavon to the Goose and Cuckoo for £10 bet, the landlord Mike told us that he would like to re-enact this feat. Basingstoke Hospital need to raise £60.000 so they can see more sufferers and admit them for treatment more quickly. As Terry owes his life to this hospital we thought that we would organise this pram race and raise money for the hospital. (we will carry buckets for donations rather than sponsorship)
We have incorporated this event with the ‘Goosestock’ festival so that everyone involved can celebrate with live music at the end of the race and we may be able to raise a bit more money.
Now for my request! I am looking for a photographer to take some photographs so that we can record this event.
The pram race is taking place on 30th May at 11am from the cattle grid on Llanover Road, If you can help by being our official photographer we will be truly grateful (there will be a few pints of real ale at the Goose for you later if you can.
If you need any more information or it’s a yes or no would you let me know.
