The Japanese have a phrase " beauty is a rotten tooth" so you are not alone is seeing something fine in an unlikely place. Now I shall go out and find a few flys on a dog's turd!.
Awesome. The color is fantastic.
Was just having a discussion with Ray about those people that don't "see" the beauty under their noses! What a stunning S**thole!! :o) ~V~

Such a wonderful shot. It is so true that some people forget to look for the beauty in seemingly ordinary things but if you really opened your eyes .... you will see so many nice things to appreciate. Thank you for sharing this photo with us and for the comments regarding the photo. Have a great day :-)
This is my pick and obviously, others see the beauty in the color and composition too. You've found great beauty in what others would probably pass buy. thanks for capturing it for us. vote.

Magical, Creative and stunningly beautiful....
excellent one, i must say this is one of the best in your wonderful collection in terms of simplicity of the subject and colours and great composition. grest capture,Adrian. my V!
This really should be set to a Smiths song, like "This Night has Opened My Eyes." Calming but melancholy - the mood is as strong as the aesthetic appeal, here.
Another v coming in..sublime work Adrian..
wow amazing. you summed it quite well in the whole idea behind photography.
i love how you managed to see the beauty to photograph it.
A wonderful range of colours there. Your story reminds me of the line from a Faithless song... "...you don't need eyes to see you need vision." A vote for your vision!

Yes, not only open their eyes to see what can be photographed, but also that for which we should be grateful or appreciative--nice job Adrian.
Fabulous and inspiring along with your comment about the circumstances.
There is no shithole without gold, or in other words, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Superb reflection with stunning colours, Ade. gmv

Adrian, thanks for the kind comment on my still life. I understand what you mean. People see through whatever "lenses" they happen to favor. I see you favor lifeloving color and perspective lenses. Excellent work. Luke

Hurray! FANTASTIC image and commentary! So happy you had opportunity to engage the woman and highlight the beauty to be found everywhere. It is in the perspective and perception. Bravo.
That is a brilliant reflection. The colours and the gentle ripple on the water are beautiful. voted
I find it hard to talk about photography with people,
You just have to show them....
.... I doubt that the woman in the 'takeaway' will ever see this, but I wish she could.
Thanks to your great eyes that we got to see this stunning relection :-) Beautiful colors and distorted silhouettes. Voted.
Brilliant reflections, and a funny story that sounds familiar to me. Many times I have heard something like "What are you doing here, there is absolutely nothing worth taking a picture of..." Unfortunately it is diffficult to proof such people they are wrong. The old lady in Griffitstown probably never will see this excellent image...
Voted by the way! Gotta be one of the best reflections on PBase!
Superb picture but even better when topped off with your story. Good for you!
(My son has a friend who aspires to photography but hasn't taken any pictures since September because 'it's winter, nuffin to take'. Ric showed him PBase - he was amazed!)
