We had a spectacular fireworks show at the Anne Arundel Community College grounds on the evening of July 3, 2004, following a spectacular outdoor concert by the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. The weather cooperated perfectly, and some 5,000 visitors brought picnics, chairs, blankets and their eyes and ears to enjoy this great evening. This show was provided by the Gambelli fireworks people, who furnished many innovative bursts and in continuous sequences. They were nearby, too -- really impressive to see them so large. Thanks much to all participants and sponsors.
These were taken with a Minolta A1 digital camera on a tripod, and except for some cropping are straight from the camera.

Absolutely beautiful. If I had a more powerful computer, I definitely would make one of those shots a screensaver. I had a handful of favorites--those that look like art. And physics. And color. Thanks for sharing. We have 2 bigtime displays here in Seattle over the 4th, one over Lake Union which I can see from my little deck. What a treat. You really nailed the Annapolis experience. Merrill

Dear Don, Your images are very good with a difficult subject. The images with the rising rocket patterns are particularly interesting and beautiful. We were there and we did recognize some of the displays that you have shown. It would be interesting to learn of your exposure techniques. We did not use a tripod because of crowd safety. We did park our Nikon D100 on a fence at the top of the grandstand. We will try to remember to bring a few to the September 8th Arundel Camera Club meeting. You might bring some of your favorites to share. Elizabeth ACC
