Weaver's Needle 80871

Superstition Wilderness

Opinions seem to vary as to whether Weaver's Needle (4553 feet, 1388 meters) is a volcanic plug (solidified
lava that fills the conduit of a volcano) or merely a formation of volcanic tuff (fused volcanic ash) that's more
erosion resistant than than that which is around it.

Photographed from off the Apache Trail in the Tonto National Forest near Goldfield, Arizona USA.
