Rideau Canal Icebow 06993-4

Along the Rideau Canal Waterway

Icebows are similar to rainbows but are formed by diffraction through polarised ice crystals
instead of raindrops. This effect is also called a sun halo or gloriole.

Photographed near Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada.

This is magic! The halo around the trees is gorgeous! Voted. Spring has sprung here already. Our mountain laurel and Bradford pear tree are both in bloom. Voted.
