The Coastal Bend of Texas is the region of the state's southern coast of the Gulf of Mexico that bends inward, named after the same fashion as the state's Big Bend region of the Rio Grande River inland to the west.

The Gulf coast of the Coastal Bend of Texas is lined with barrier islands and is teeming with wildlife, such as large water and wading birds, fish, dolphins, alligators, and butterflies. This region is where the Photo Odyssey spent much of the first part of its third winter tour.
