Coffee corner

This large copper gecko motif worked in aboriginal style has been installed as a wall decoration in a sunny and secluded corner where we often have a morning coffee.

It is so warm and smooth that I didn't recognize it as copper at all. Or perhaps it's part of the name of the animal---the large copper gekko? It looks as if it was carved from dark wood instead of hammered out of metal. In any event it's quite lovely. And as is often the case, it bears an eerie similarity to traditional designs by the first Americans of the Southwest, the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni. You have to wonder if there's more than coincidence when such similarities pop up. It's a lovely piece of art and must be very welcome company as you enjoy your morning coffee.
