Parkland 1

Parkland 1

The brilliant light of Aussie spring and summer is back, and so it's time to try IR effects again.
Here in parkland surrounding the centre of Adelaide are large Moreton Bay fig trees
with characteristically large buttress roots.
The trees cast deep shade, but the IR effect looking out to the bright sunlight gives a nice result.

Apparently the IR filter can be used in shady situations as well as in full sunlight.
BTW, the shot was taken using only a monopod support,
so ˝s exposure time was adequate and not difficult to manage.
I'm pleased with this!

Half a second with a monopod? That's amazing, as the shot is wonderfully sharp. Dappled sunlight has always appealed to me, and indeed it works very well here with the infrared filter. It's a delightful discovery. I'm also glad to discover the name of these fig trees. The strangler fig as often shown in places like Ankor Wat made an abiding impression on me. (Slow and steady not only wins the race, it crushes the stadium.) It's very interesting to see these figs freestanding. They make great IR subjects.
