his father's son

his father's son

For Andrew

The current patriarch, son of our friend of many years now sadly deceased and greatly missed. No doubt this one will be a fine successor.

He is watching me from a distance of about 20m through the kitchen window while I prepare food. He knows the best times of day to come. Their distance vision is amazing, so he can see clearly what is on the cutting board and knows there's a fair chance I'll find a scrap or two for him.

1/1250s, f/9, 700mm, iso 400, EC -0.7EV, TC x1.4 full exif

Amazing capture! We sang the song in childhood, but never saw a Kookaburra. This shot sings a song of its own :) V!

His eyes seem to be telling you something and I also see him as smiling too. Brain, I think you have managed to captured his expression there. Vote.

Thank you very much Brian!

Sorry to hear about the patriach. I'm sure he will fill the role, and you will be there to give him the odd titbit when he needs it.

A very fine shot he does contrast nicely.

Whenever I need to know something about Australian fauna, I know you are the man to turn to. You have a wealth of knowledge, and you are willing to share whatever you know with everyone!

A giving person and a true friend.

Reincarnation of the phoenix, I'd say. That must have been a sad thing, to lose your old friend. But Junior does seem quite up to the task. I love that hint of smile. And I can imagine the implied "G'day!" in that look. Pretty blue stripes he's sporting, too.
