Magpies are among the largest of our garden birds, but too often are aggressive and will sometimes occupy feeders just to prevent any other birds from feeding. Suspending a plant pot above the dish at an adjustable height has been effective in preventing magpies from dominating open feeders since their upright posture makes difficulty for them in alighting or ducking under the obstacle. As you can see, even large galah cockatoos have no problem with this arrangement.
