In July of 1998, Len and Sam Simpson drove their 1996 Landrover from Houston along La Ruta Maya that brought them in
search of Nohmul along the way to Honduras.
Their Comments-->
"It stands hidden in the middle of a sugarcane field, where even the locals working in the very field it stands in are unaware of it's existence. As far as they are concerned it is just a hill, where the jungle has a strangle hold over the plant-life, and the sugar will not grow."
Perhaps the Itzab family wishes to forget all of the turmoil that excavation brought to their milpa...
I recall that at the time I was there in 1983 there was talk of the Germans building a museum there, including a large roof to cover the acropolis and main temple. Too bad that never happened. It is sad to see it all regrown.
