In his New York Times Best-seller book, China Inc., author Ted Fishman explained how a "20% labor, 80% materials" ratio (whereas in the US the ratio is reversed) has enabled architects (including many world acclaimed ones) and developers to make Shanghai's cityscape look like it just came out the TV cartoon series "The Jetsons".
