The photography of Frederick Porter Moore

I am Fred Moore's baby sister and these are his images. These photos and many more sit in an envelope marked 'Europe with Fred-1975'. He lived and worked in Hollywood from the age of 18. As a producer for TV commercials his employer sent him overseas frequently on shoots and he kept a photographic diary of these times. At the time we lost Fred to cancer he had become a top cinematographer for TV. He was the Director of Photography on the criticly acclaimed A YEAR IN THE LIFE, NIGHTINGALES, and DOOGIE HOWSER. Fred won an emmy and his commercials won Cleos. I want him in my life and this gallery accomplishes that.

As I process the photos I will post them to this gallery. All comments are from his notes on the backs of the images unless followed by my initials (tm)

(All photographs have been archived digitally with a Nikon D100 and somewhere Fred is wetting his knickers to get his hands on the new technology)

Hi Toni who passed, Chris, and everyone,
I am the English girl mentioned in the message from Chris. I met Fred and Chris in a youth hostel in Dover, gave them the address of my London flat and found them fully ensconced with my flat mates when I got home. Charming they were. Chris married my best friend. Fred and I planned to marry in Switzerland but his CO did not grant permission--a road not travelled! I remember him well and think of him still. The remembrance I have is a photograph he took of me in a London park circa 1966. Chris' Irish lass told me about this site: she found me after 40 years and I very am glad of it.

For those who do not already know, Toni Moore passed away on October 12, 2007. PBase will keep her account active, so that her photos continue to entertain and inspire those who visit.

Freddie and I were teenage buddies in the early 50's in Oak Park, MI. We both had Cushman Motorscooters and Model A hotrods. When Fred went to California in 1958, I was supposed to go with him, but had to wait to the end of the week for my paycheck. Fred was on a schedule with other friends and couldn't wait. Otherwise I might have been out there with him.
For some reason, yesterday I decided to do a Google search for "Frederick Porter Moore III" I didn't have any results and decided to drop the III, I ended up at your site. I don't know what made me think of Freddie and do the search, but I was very saddened to hear of his passing.
His photography is very impressive and you must be very proud of him.
I was hoping to get in touch with him and talk over old times. I will visit your site often to brouse the photos. Good Job, Michael A. Tims

Hi Toni,
I was researching my friend Fred on the web and discovered your pictures. I actually introduced Fred to photography when we were stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany together in 1964-1966 or so. We traveled to London together on my motorcycle where, thanks to his charm we met and wooed a couple of girls, one English, the other Irish. The Irish lass became my wife. Fred would visit from time to time after we returned home (I live in the Santa Cruz area) but in 90's when I hadn't heard from him in some time, a little research revealed that he had died. That was a great shock. I would love to hear from you to fill in some blanks and perhaps I could supply a few more pictures for your gallery.
