Photos taken at the California State Poppy Reserve in the high desert area of the Antelope Valley located in Northern Los Angeles County,California.
Unfortunately the wind was cold and blowing quite strong that day so all the poppies were closed up,hopefully we will get a good rain season for '05/'06 ('04 was drought)
Updated: The first ten were taken March 13 2005,Los Angeles County has had the 2nd wettest winter on record and it has made for spectacular wildflower blooms and turned the normally dry desert in to a lush carpet of green. As with the 2003 season the wind played havoc, blowing at a steady 20 mph all day,I am going to return later this week and try again and hopefully the higher elevations will be blooming too
