This graceful raptor is a common sight along the Mississippi River Valley during the warmer months. They are most often seen as they effortlessly soar and glide over bottomland woodlands. They are sometimes seen in impressive flocks in fall migration. They are occasional across the state away from the Mississippi River, although I have had them regularly in Carroll and Weakley Counties.
