In the center of the frame is a sleeping bird that at a glance looks like a male Mallard. Note the green on the head isn't uniform, the birds sides are the same color as the surrounding Gadwall, and it's barely visible here, but the ruddy breast and paler belly have the peppered look of a Gadwall.
