It is in the company of Lesser Scaup here (but too distant for much of a shot), after tiring of the company of Coots which is where it had come from before joining these birds; mostly to sleep. Difficult to tell, but the bird's head is up, though the neck isn't extended any. This bird had a nice thick brown stripe over the nape and crown, all the way to the bill. The white face is showing here as a wedge above the compressed brown cheek spot.
