We made a trip out to the Chesepeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, even though the security sanctions have greatly diminished the birding productivity there. We went specifically hoping for lingering Purple Sandpipers and Great Cormorants.
We had just walked up to the breakwater when Steve glanced out there and said "I'd tell you there was a Purple Sandpiper down there, but you'd get too excited"; he's right, I did get pretty excited!
This bird hung around with this Semi Sand the whole time we were there. I knew a Purple was going to be big, but it really dwarfed the Semi!
