I began the morning of my 3rd day of birding back in the neighborhood across from the Hospital at Kendall. There had been Spot-breasted Orioles reported here recently, and I hoped for a shot of a Red-whiskered Bulbul. Don Manning and I had seen the Bulbul on our 2000 trip, but I wanted a photo of it as well.
Literally, one of the 1st birds I saw when entering the area was a Bulbul sitting up on a wire. This was before the Sun was actually up, so there was no light to work with. I had at least three of these birds, but didn't see any later in the morning as I went back through the same area.
Even in this bad shot the spiky crest, spur on the breat, and white tail tips can be seen. I can just make out the red whisker on my monitor. Very neat birds, which haven't spread really any over the last several years.
