Gray-breasted Saberwing

Barquilla De Fresa

This Gray-breasted Saberwing was one of 39 species of hummingirds we saw on the trip, including 9 endemics. All but a couple being seen by everyone. Several other species are present only in the tepui region of Venezuela and adjacent Guyana and Brazil.

We had these birds mainly around the Barquilla De Fresa, where this photo was taken, though they are widespread birds in Venezuela.
