I had been wanting a spread-wing shot of a young Lesser Black-back for a while, I had hoped the contrasting white rump and base of the tail would also be showing though. There is only the slightest hint of paleness in the inner primaries that is so obvious on Herring, and the double dark bar to the trailing edge is very apparent, formed by the secondaries and dark base of the greater coverts. This same wing pattern is shown by young California, but that is where the similarites end.
As usual on KY Lake, the distance was substantial.
