The Western Grebe never came inshore where the Red-necked was resting; and where the two Westerns hung out most of last winter.
When I 1st picked this Western up, it was alone, but soon fell in with a line of its smaller cousins. Nothing like getting Western and Horned side-by-side to really appreciate how big a Western really is.
After birding the other side of the point, I couldn't relocate the Western on the way back out, though the Red-necked was still asleep in the same spot.
