This was quite a year for Gray Flycatchers wintering in CA, with probably a dozen scattered around the State.

This bird had been hanging around Cattle Call Park in Brawley for some time. Bob Miller keeps up with this bird, and we had no trouble locating it.

Note the large bill for an Empid (with quite a hook), and very sharp break from orange to black on the lower mandible.
