Magnificent Frigatebird

Pickwick Lake; Hardin Co. TN

We were above the Dam at Bruton Branch (having just watched one of the Band-rumped Storm-Petrels), when we received word that a Frigatebird had just chased the Long-tailed Jaeger above the Dam, and was heading our way. At this same time, Jeff picked up the Frigate in the distance, sailing our way.

We had great looks at the bird, as at one point it even dropped down and caught a fish not far from us. It eventually sailed out of sight to the south.

I think that both Jeff and Joe Guinn got better photos, as I now wish I had watched the bird more and wasted less time on the pitiful shots I got.
