Though it doesn't look like much to at a glance, this is my favorite shot of the trip. We had spent several hours looking for this bird, and missed it twice. It was finally relocted, but feeding low in a dense tangle of understory.
About a dozen people were lined up elbow to elbow peering through at the bird, which fed very nonchalantly. I was only able to maneuver a few inches eithe way, but found this one spot where I though I had a clear shot at the birds head.
The light was perfect, letting the full luster of the plumage shine. Several people mentioned, that is was the bluest Blue Bunting they had ever seen. Don Manning had seen them several times in Central America, but he said none compared to this bird.
