Following a tip from David Pitts that there were some Swans present on Garrett Lake in rural eastern Weakley Co. yesterday, I got up there today to find 8 of these massive Swans present. The adult on the left was one of two adults leading a group of 6 birds. A couple of others were feeding on a different section of the lake.
A couple of people that were fishing told me that they fish here regularly, and that the birds weren't here a couple of weeks ago. They seemed to have come in with the recent bitter weather.
I have only had one other Mute in TN that I really felt comfortable was a "wild" bird, many years ago at Cross Creeks, also during some bad winter weather.
