This pair of Nene's, or Hawaiian Geese, were seen at Hanalei NWR, on Kauai's north shore. I saw these wonderful little geese at several locations, with one of the highlights of the trip being hearing them in the fog in the mountains at Kokee State Park, in fog so dense you could barely see a few feet in front of you. These Hawaiian endemics were extirpated from Kaua'i a long time ago, but are making a great recovery on the island. This is greatly helped by the fact that Kaua'i has remainded mongoose free.
