This bird, along with the Blue Mockingbird and Golden-crowned Warbler, was the big draw for birders in TX during the winter of 2002-2003. We saw the other 2 of the "Big 3", but the Pewee was the only one I was able to get a photo of. We spent a very cold morning with Red & Loiuse Gambill walking around Anzalduas Park, before we finally tracked this big Pewee down. It was calling regularly, which certainly helped. The distinctly crested appearance is evident, even though the bird turned its head just as I shot.
