Just behind Palila (and along with Hawaiian Hawk), my mext most-wanted bird of the trip, and luckily it is an adult male! I once again had great info from Jack Jeffrey http://jackjeffreyphoto.com/ (I had intended to try and hire Jack, but that wasn't possible so he was very helpful with info). There are several pair of Aki along the trail I took, but generally the easiest are at the last big kipuka about a mile in. Just as I entered the forest here, this beauty was pecking away and gave me a great show. I was very pressed for time, so things worked out splendidly.
