Hurricane Katrina birds

A days birding at Pickwick following the aftermath of devestating Hurricane Katrina produced more phenominal birds. These included Band-rumped Storm-Petrel, Magnificent Frigatebird, Black Skimmer, Long-tailed Jaeger, Pomarine Jaeger/Skua sp., 50+ Laughing Gulls, and 3+ Sooty Terns.

My photos are all terrible, but still show some birds not too often seen in TN. The wind was terrible all day, and the only good light was late in the day. These shots were all taken through the scope, which is extremely hard to do on a flying bird in heavy wind. I'm sure better photos will be forthcoming of all these birds; hopefully good enought that we can turn the Pomarine Jaeger into a Skua.
