I was lucky enough to accompany a group of friends on a trip to southwest Chiapas with Michael Carmody. The seven of us had a fantastic time, with the bulk of the trip being at El Triunfo, with two additional days birding the Pacific slope on the way back down. Other highlights were birding at El Sumidero, El Ocote, San Cristobal, and a bit of coastal birding.
Highlights were many, 1st and foremost was Horned Guan of coarse, as well as getting probably the 1st photos of Blue-throated Goldentail in Mexico. We also photographed both Nava's Wren and Azure-rumped Tanager, neither of which appear to have been photographed very often at all. Others were numerous Resplendent Quetzals, Fulvous Owl, Wine-throated among 20+ species of hummingbirds, etc. I have a total of 146 species depicted in this gallery, with several species having numerous images scattered about.
These photos are sized for higher-resolution monitors, and will look best at something like 1280 x 1024 resolution on your monitor.
The pics of the northern bobwhite are great. I am interested in what kind of habitat they were in/near when you saw them. Could I get permission to use this in some of my talks? I am trying to promote the conservation of this species throughout it's range including in Mexico.
