These photos are from a whirlwind 8.5 day trip to southern Cal, late Feb. of 2006. Don Manning and I birded from San Diego north to Morro Bay, and also some in the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains, Anza-Borrego Desert and the Salton Sea, the Carrizo Plain and Cuyama Valley, and several places in-between. The impetus for the trip was the LA Audubon winter pelagic, which was also very successful.
Great shots as always, Mike! I snuck off to Tijuana Slough last year while on a business trip...what a magical place (I got Clapper Rail, and lots of ducks, terns, and shorebirds).
