After the Duomo, Saint Patrick's Well is Orvieto's most famous attractions.
Commissioned by Pope Clement VII in 1527 and designed by Antonio da Sangallo the younger,
it was created to provide the city with a water supply during a siege. Its clever design
includes two spiral staircases lit by 72 windows.
