Tomnaverie Galaxy

Tarland, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Trip to Tomnaverie Stone Circle with fellow PBasers frazerrobbo, tinker & smit10pics to capture star trails
This was my set up shot with a 12 minute exposure ... unfortunately the dropping freezing temperatures turned my lens to ice afterwards
The soft orange glow is from the distant village of Tarland ... which gave a nice colour to offset the silhouetted standing stones
The late night trip was worth it for the stunning view of the stars and milky way ... clearest I have seen for years

Freeky ... I was on this location to the day last year without planning or realising!

So very well done. The scene was well set for the long exposure. Often a very challenging (or at least patience-testing) process.

Comp is very strong and 12 mins still gives a pretty good startrail effect, so it really works for me. Remember your lens hood next time!!!

That works beautifully, you must be very happy with this, I like the silhouette of the stones and that glow

Superb! Love the orange fiery glow against the fence. Really lights up the image below the silouette'd stones. Cant wait for the next clear night!

This is a great result, Tony, the village lights really add to the image.
