Lisa, many thanks for your kind comments!The lens I used was the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 NOT the Canon kit lens (18-55). The original picture was 3072 x 2048 which I cropped to 920 x 657, before turning it into an 800 x 600 for web use!I did not have much success with the kit lens doing macros. I did better with the Canon 50mm 1.8, but much happier with my new Sigma. I hope to get a macro lens soon though, possibly the Sigma 105mm macro....

this is lovely, as are all your photos. i am thinking of getting this very camera/lens kit, i use a Nikon D70 now. macro is very important to me, so i have to ask, did you take this close up using ONLY the kit lens you indicated below, and or is this photo cropped from the original? in other words, does this kit 18-55mm lens do good macro on it's own, as it seems to represent here? thanks.
