Coot with pink bill in Texas - color aberration or?

Found this coot with pink bill on Quintana Island in Texas on October 22, 2011 - shocking contrast compare to a ‘normal’ looking coot around here (an I had seen millions of American Coots before - none had pink bill, all had white ones).

So you tell me - it is a aberrant form or? Closest photos I found are showing Hawaiian Coots ('Alae ke'oke'o )
