Assam Engineering College, Jalukbari Guwahati-13

This album contains pictures of Assam Engineering College (AEC) Campus
situated in Jalukbari, Guwahati (Assam). Even though AEC is known as an
engineering college, the campus for me is very special. It is here where
I grew up and spent my life until leaving for an engineering school in
Southern India in 1990.

This album is to keep those nice and cherishing memories alive. For most
ex-AECians and ex-Campus kids this album is surely bound to make them

Hi I am from 1987 pass out batch. Some of these photos are like walking down the memory lanes. That photo of the path way beside the main field is special for me as we the boarders of Hostel 4 frequented it very often.Some are new to me as they were not existent at our time which was bereft of such commercial establishments and was much more pristine.But the beautiful time of my life which I have spent at my Alma Mater is etched in me for ever. When ever I would like to revisit my golden days now I simply have to go through these pictures.

I worked mostly outside Assam at different parts of India meeting engineers from leading colleges and I say we AECIANS simply match those and worked with pride during the tenure of services.

Its really a great feeling to get a view of our pride-AEC.AEC is not just a centre of excellence but an Asset which we preserved in our heart.A feeling of missing it always annoys. Would have loved to spend my entire lifetime in its service. I have been attached to AEC for almost a decade(2001-2009) and even today whenever I m in Guwahati , I used to visit AEC only to get a glimpse of it.For, that single view of my department or the campus fills the heart with joy and continues to thrill till the next view.I would like to convey a lot of thanks for taking me down the memory Lane-my humble beginning.Thanks a lot for such an Asset.

how fantastic were the days! from 1982 to 1987. all the days were pleasent. Days of hostel no.7. Wall magazine, volley ball, cricket... adda, gaan, gaza(joke). So fast were the time. Memorable day -- publication of magazine(AECIAN)--as the editor(1984). How can i forget those sweetest time ! Oh all AECIAN you all are great!

So many generations came to the campus, but the campus still provides us with the same nostalgic experience even after so many years of our leaving the campus. We enjoyed so many cricket and table tennis (we were champions in table tennis for many years during our time with AEC team captain Shankar Datta Lahakar) matches with Cotton College, Gauhati University, Gauhati Medical College and others. For those, who lived in the AEC campus, so many memories and such strong attachment. Assam Engineering College campuus will always remain special to me. Dr. Sailadhar Gogoi, Dr. Nirmal Chaudhury, Dr. P.K.Bora, Dr. Awoal, Prof. Madan Das, Prof. Zahir-udin Ahmed were among our teachers. They were always at their best.

It's Smriti (yr schoolmate/HS mate and AECian Mech br.-1990-94, ). It was really wonderful seeing this album of yours. I didn't know you were interested in photography. Brought back ol' fond memories and made me long to go back there and see for myself all the changes that hv taken place since I left.
How about adding some good views of H-8 (both the larger building n the smaller building) and H-3?

After a long time I am watching the AEC Campus photographs. I always cherish my good old AEC college days during 1960's when I was a student of ME from 1964 to 1969. I am still proud to be an AECIAN, one of the oldest college in INDIA. Many thanks to MANAS for his effort to publish AEC snaps.

Its really wonderful.I felt really very nostalgic to go through it.I was in AEC from 1975 to 1979. Passed out just before the Assam Agitation.One thing I want to tell you that you should give some pictures of old girls hostel at the hill top. Hope to see some more creativity from you.

Fantastic .. any one seeing these pics would start recollecting the memories of their alma -mater.... I am not an AECian but a well wisher of AEC. I think this college has a lot of due from the government ... the students are excellent but the infrastructure is horrible..
This is not the way the gov needs to look at a 50+ years young college... Cheers to All AECians and keep up the good work defying all odds...

Assam Engineering College (AEC)in which I entered in 1961 and left in 2002, is an engineering college that is supposed to be one of the best colleges in the country. I grew up in this campus and spent my whole career in this prestigious institute. Now I live very close to this campus. I have been still associated with AEC in some academic works. I will remain ever grateful to AEC and I feel proud to be an AECIAN.

Hi, Manas Da........Thnx for the photographs......very nostalgic.....I was in Hostel-2, Instrumentation, 1998-2002, very excited to have a glimpse of the four year I spend there in AEC, the "PUKHURI", where we used to swim, and the guys playing cricket. I must appreciate the approach of ur photography which include many of our dearer places and events.

That's such a beautiful album. You've captured every nook and corner of the campus from Sundarbori to Tetelia...liked the album a lot. I was looking for someinfo on deepar beel when i came across this album of yours. I had passed through deepar beel and had captured our college from the other side recently and hence was looking for some more info..

Great photographs. I was in 1977 - 1983 batch - lost more than a year due to Assam agitation. Brought back interesting memories of the institution. I hope that the students and the faculty as improved since the time I was there.

I am an AECIAN 1970 batch mechanical engineering. The photographs rekindled the fond memories of the golden 5 years of my life in AEC and "teen nombor hostel". I would have loved to see also pictures of Hostel 3 and Barman's Dukan. I am living in Singapore working for a Swedish organisation and have not had the opportunity to revisit the college. The pictures give me some satisfaction and of course a greater urge now to see for myself. Thanks a lot Manas for your brilliant idea and the efforts.

Wow! This is really amazing, good photos. I am ex-AECian Hostel#2, 2003 Batch, these photos reminds me of the good old days when myself, Amjad, Juganta, Vikas & CRP Hostel#4 used to swim in the "PUKHURI" in front of Admin Block every-day during summers. The gigantic edifice seems like greeting you with its arms stretched. The Tetelia bridge for the evening walk. I really miss the AEC days, I would love to get back to AEC again and again and meet all old pals.

Sorry if I'm 'intruding' here- I'm basically an outsider & have nothing to do w/ AEC or even Assam (I'm from Hyderbad actually!)...but found ur site thru ur photos of the dead Standard 20 Van (AMA 6293) in a google search browsing for Standard 20 pics.! :)
I'm a classic vehicle enthusiast & very fond of the old Standard cars/vans, hence was really sad to see the fate of AMA 6293! It must have been a very original vehicle once as I see it still has the "STANDARD 20" name badges on the front! Pity these vehicles, being Govt. owned cannot be bought/restored by anyone. I now don't see any of these vehicles even in Madras where they were very popular.
