For the first time in history, the Airbus A380 landed in SFO on 4th Oct 2007.
The A380 visit was done by F-WWEA [MSN 009]. This aircraft had the Engine Alliance engines
which is the most recent engine type under going testing for the A380. The aircraft did not
have passenger interiors.
The visit was part of the A380 World Tour with the Engine Alliance engines. At SFO, the main
objective of the A380 was to make sure the airport is well equipped to handle regular passenger
service of this aircraft type.
Amongst the many tests which were performed, the notable ones include testing of G-101 which is
the designated Gate for handling A380 operations.
